Gorgeous Maui Wedding at Olowalu Plantation House :: Kelsey & Carl
One of the things that stands out about photographing weddings at the Olowalu Plantation House is that each Maui Wedding celebration is completely different from the next. It’s so amazing to walk into a wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House and feel the energy of the couple and their guests, which helps us to prepare for how the day is going to unfold. Kelsey, Carl and their family and friends couldn’t have been more lovely, personable and inviting. Their love of Maui and the natural beauty surrounding the Olowalu Plantation House set the tone for an organic, relaxed feel that was truly in line with their easy-going personalities and the laid-back island vibe of the estate.
The island of Maui has so much meaning to the couple, especially after getting engaged on the island early in 2017. It just happened to be around their third anniversary and Kelsey’s birthday. As Kelsey explains:
“The morning before my birthday Carl took me to O’o farm (a farm-to-table experience) in Kula, HI where we had the opportunity to tour their farm and enjoy a freshly harvested, delicious brunch. After the farm visit in beautiful upcountry, we took a jeep through the lush, narrow, and winding roads around the north side of the island. After stopping at a few of our favorite hidden gems along the way, we stopped at the Nakalele Blowhole, on the West side of the island, for a photo op. As I was taking in the beautiful view, Carl began to express how much I meant to him, then got down on one knee and proposed…making me the happiest woman in the world!
With their love of the island in mind, Cherise of The Perfect Wedding Maui created an elegant and warm celebration at the Olowalu Plantation House, which embodied a rustic feel wrapped up with a touch of tropical. After a heartfelt ceremony, guests sipped on tropical cocktails, before they made their way to the perfectly set, tented reception area. They were greeted by hanging chandeliers dripping in greenery, guest tables named after each of the islands of Hawaii, geometric terrariums with delicately placed flower petals inside, monstera leaves adorning each place setting and a seating chart of the island chain that tied everything together perfectly.
It was the most beautiful day and we can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed being a part of it. Congratulations to Kelsey and Carl, and mahalo for choosing Dmitri and Sandra Photography to document the beginning of your journey together as husband and wife.
