We’re so excited to share this elegant, magical Haiku Mill Maui wedding with you today, celebrating the love between gorgeous, Maui girl, Kimmy and her handsome groom, Andres. Between the glamorous gowns worn by the bride and her two adorable daughters, the old world charm and beauty of the Haiku Mill and their super romantic ceremony, this wedding was effortlessly chic and full of style!
We love the story of how Kimmy and Andres met, in San Diego, where they both attended college. Their timing was completely kismet and proof that love will find you when you least expect it:
Andres was actually leaving the beach after surfing and our friend and I were dying trying to find parking. We saw him leaving and he let us have his space. He then flashed me while he was trying to change out of his wetsuit so of course I fell in love! haha! jk But we did start talking and going snowboarding and to the beach all the time. Soon after, Sofi surprised us! But it was the best surprise of our lives. We moved to Austin a couple years ago and then welcomed our second little girl, Ella. And after all of that, we’re finally getting married!
They decided to make it official in San Diego, were their love story began:
Andres proposed while we were on a summer trip to San Diego. He took me to do all my favorite things starting with going to the tide pools to explore, drink wine, and watch the sunset. Then we picked up food from one of our favorite restaurants and headed to my other favorite beach to picnic on the cliffs. That’s were he proposed!
The couple incorporated gorgeous details into their wedding which included hand making 1000 cranes as a nod to the bride’s Japanese heritage. The crane is a traditional symbol of love in Japan, they are believed to mate for life and are a symbol of long life, happiness and good luck. Legend suggests that after folding 1,000 cranes (one for each year of the bird’s life) the majestic bird will grant their wish for a long, harmonious marriage. The couple also incorporated three signature cocktails which were named after their three grandfathers that have passed away based on things that they loved.
There was so much love and laughter surrounding this beautiful couple and we were so honored to have been chosen to document every breathtaking moment. Mahalo, Kimmy and Andres, we had so much fun getting to know you and can’t wait to see you and sweet daughters back in Maui again soon!
