We were supposed to meet at 5pm at this little scenic park on the Costa Verde in Miraflores, Lima known as “El Faro” (The Lighthouse).
Melina was getting her hair done by Alex Callegari at HairStudio in my favorite part of Lima, Conquistadores in San Isidro. A trendy street in the business district full of boutiques, great cafe’s and Cevicheria’s. Gustavo was picking us up in La Molina which is a suburb about 30 minutes away…..on a normal day.
We had planned on shooting during that “golden light” hour but when we hit the road we knew we had problems. There was a soccer game at El Monumental stadium and if you know anything about Lima, you know that traffic is at a standstill everywhere in the city when there’s a good game of soccer going on.
We arrived to the park just when the sun was setting. What we planned on being and afternoon shoot suddenly became a night shoot. Good thing we brought our lights…
The Lighthouse (El Faro) …
Once the sun was gone, we decided to go to one of our favorite Lima locations for shooting. The bohemian Barranco and El puente de los suspiros (Bridge of Sights). This is an old bridge surrounded by great local restaurants, hip bars and this cozy yellow church.
We love Barranco!
Our night photo shoot turn out being a night with good laughs! Thank you Mel and Gus!
